Change is seldom easy, especially when you reach a certain age. In my experience we adapt and move on, but we sometimes yearn for what was. I've found that it's okay to look back, but only for a bit. It's in the moving forward that we grow. I tend to put my personal challanges in God's hands. I firmly believe that there is a purpose and reason for every event in our lives. God puts you where you were meant to be, whether you want to be there or not, and there are so many times when we don't want to be there. But again, there is a reason He has put you there.
This has been a year of major changes for me. I've become a traditionally published author. I'm working on my third book. I've had to cope with learning the ins and outs of the publishing world and it's been an exciting and frightening mix. Who knew marketing was so important on the author's end as well as by the publishing house?
Emily graduated from college and is now living on her own and working on her masters. We don't get to see her as often as we would like, but what a wonderful and exciting new life she is embarking on. I couldn't be more proud, and yet the empty nest syndrom is very real.
We have a new puppy in the house. This change was one I could get behind 100 percent. Teddy Roosevelt is a beautiful black and white cocker with a personality that can only be described as joyful!
And I now have a literary agent. Another learning experience in the making, but an exciting one to be sure.
Final analysis: In the end it's all about embracing the changes that God gifts you, adapting and moving forward.
I wish each of you peace and God's blessings.
