The Marine's New Family:
Four Stars from Romance Times!
"I so enjoyed this book! The sweet coastal town and extended family of towns folk make you believe in the goodness and love of community and days gone by. While each character has their own history and demons from the past, the interactions between them speak to gentle kindness as each tries to lift each other up in a gentle faith based way. Watching Tess and Luke grow in their relationship gives one hope for tomorrow and that shiny new day. I can't wait to read more from Roz Dunbar." Casey
"This book took me home and came to me when I was wondering about folks helping out each other just for being kind with no other thought in mind. It hold out the rich traditions of small town living and Marine Corps values and dealing with hardships with grace and love. Can't wait for the next one!! I have a new short story author!" Marina
"Great read. Enjoyed following Tess and Luke's journey. The story line was uplifting and I could feel myself in the coastal town with them. Anxiously awaiting the next book from Roz Dunbar." Phyliss
"Tess is an injured medic, in more ways than just physical. She also has PTSD and has arrived, to recuperate, in a small town cottage belonging to extended family. One thing she doesn’t realize is that Luke is one of the marines who saved her life, carrying her straight out of bombing wreckage in war-torn Afghanistan. Home from active duty, Luke is conveniently the neighborhood handy-man, and is preparing the house for its latest guest.
There is something familiar in Luke, but Tess can’t put her finger on it. Luke is being sensitive and does not feel it’s the right time to tell her how he knows her. He doesn’t wish to cause Tess further pain by remembering the terrible event that day, which took many lives. According to Luke’s belief, this “coincidence” of Tess’s presence and them meeting again all the way from Afghanistan, proves that God directs our path.
All the while Luke is fighting for custody of his 10 year old son. There is a woman from church who believes she deserves all of Luke’s attention and is less than thrilled when Tess comes to town. Tess struggles with her own faith, wondering where God was during her trauma and how could He allow that to happen? This story unravels many great subplots and well, of course it’s a lovely romance.
This is my first read from author Roz Dunbar. She is a great story-teller. This work stays true to form in being what one would expect from the Love Inspired line, which is a sweet read." Review by: JD of Timeless Fiction Writers
"This is truly a beautiful story of love between a couple and their devotion to each other and God. Tess and Luke’s story begins with a tragic event that Tess struggles with physically, emotionally and spiritually. Being a marine, Luke understands what Tess is dealing with and being the type of man he is, Luke is there to see her through it, even if she doesn’t realize it. This story is heartwarming and beautifully written and I will be looking forward to reading more from Roz Dunbar." Dawn
“The Marine’s New Family” is not your typical Harlequin story. It’s better! From the first page, I was pulled in and it wouldn’t let me go. The book was realistic, loving, and fun to read. Luke, one of the characters, was similar to my father, a gruff hard-core marine, with a deep love for his family. I could see the see the landscape, smell the air, and relate to the people in the book. It was a fast read that left me wanting to know what happens next. It’s the perfect beach book. Cheryl
"Ms. Dunbar’s tale of character and resilience comes alive in a beautiful setting. I can't wait to read her next book. Semper Fi" Charles
"This book gave me all the good feelings I needed in a book mixed with the right amount of oh no moments. Community and family dynamics at their most loving best and misguided worst. Cannot wait to see more from Roz Dunbar!"
"In her first novel, Roz Dunbar has done a fabulous job showing us that heroes come in countless forms. To me, a hero is someone who does the next right thing, one intentional step at a time. Through exquisite writing, Dunbar introduces us a community of people who all qualify. It's a feel good story with powerFULL substance. I'm already looking forward to Roz Dunbar's next!" Lisa
